Buy A Meal. Give A Meal.

The Need

In developing countries many children struggle to find adequate amounts of food daily. Hunger has a direct impact on many areas of a child's life. One area of life that hunger has a huge impact on is a child's education. Due to hunger, children struggle to pay attention, engage, and often times even attend school. This creates long-lasting harm to the children and as well as the local communities.

The response

Our pledge is to donate a minimum of one meal for every meal we sell to schools in high-risk areas around the world. The donation of meals to these strategically targeted schools will help feed hungry children, and in turn help empower them to get the education they need to change their lives and their communities.

The Impact

The impact that feeding children at their place of education has made is quite impressive. Here are a few statistics from one of our target countries, Malawi, that'll give a insight on the impact the feeding programs has helped to achieve:

  • After one year of receiving meals, Children were 29x more likely to never feel hungry at school than those that were not in the feeding program
  • Enrollment in school increased by 25%
  • The percentage of children who felt happy in school rose by 25% after five years in the feeding program
  • The percentage of children who never worried about hunger rose by 45% after five years in the feeding program

The Why

From Founder Jonny Kline-
In 2018 I went on two separate Missions Trips, one to Malawi and one to Brazil. In both of these places I got to spend a lot of time in the local communities hanging and learning about these people and their amazing cultures.

"In 2018 I went on a Missions Trip to Malawi and instantly fell in love with that beautiful little country that is Malawi. One of the first things I found out about Malawi was that it was coined as "The Warm of of Africa" and there is truly no better name for it. I was deeply Impacted by the peoples kindness, warmth, and love for others. In addition to learning about their amazing cultures, I also learned of all the troubles that these impoverished communities face, lack of access to food being one of the primary troubles. As most of my work was done in the school systems I quickly realized the trickle down effects hunger has on kids and society, specifically in the schools. After I got back to the states immediately started researching ways as to how I could help make a difference. I realized that the part I was meant to play in this puzzle would be to include giving back in my busines model. I realized it couldn't just be me. There needed to be a community behind this.

As I started working on this social aspect of my business model, I came across Mary's Meals. Mary's Meals is a phenomenal non-profit that had the same passion I had……making a difference in the world. Mary's Meals developed a fantastic impact model and it was something that I knew LIVN needed to get behind. Helping others in need is the heart-beat of LIVN and it always will be. As the company grows we will continue to develop our impact models to maximize the impact we make on the world. Let's make the world a better place... together."
